The Coral, Grandmaster Flash
and many more heading to
Corbridge Festival this Summer!

Corbridge Festival, the increasingly popular family-friendly music festival, returns for its sixth year with a spectacular musical line-up. Born in 2011 out of a desire to bring great music and family entertainment to West Northumberland.

Headlining the festival on Saturday 9th July this year is Liverpool rock band The Coral. The five-piece band, who had 8 top 30 singles and six top 20 albums, were the figureheads of the Merseyside revival in the mid-2000s and have recently released Distance Inbetween, their first album of new material in six years.
On 23 Nov 2015 the band announced their 2016 return after a five year break and will mark their return by headlining The Corbridge Festival! They first found success with their debut album The Coral which was nominated for the 2002 Mercury Music Prize and later voted the fourth best album of the year by NME Magazine. They followed up with Magic and Medicine (2003) and  their hits include Dreaming Of You and In The Morning.  The new studio album will be released on 4th March, accompanied by a UK/European tour  which sees them coming to Corbridge in the Summer.

Being flown in from the Bronx, New York to play at Corbridge Festival this year, is none other than Grandmaster Flash, the  American hip hop recording artist and pioneer of hip hop DJing, cutting and mixing will be joining the line-up in 2016.  The founding father of hip-hop, Joseph Saddler, a native of the Bronx, had a deep passion for music, experimenting with his father’s vinyl since he was a toddler. His knowledge of audio equipment led him to an idea that would revolutionise the way DJ’s play music: the turntable becomes the instrument.   Grandmaster Flash and the furious five were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2007, becoming the first hip hop act to be honoured.

Front man of Indie rock band The Bluetones, Mark Morriss will also perform at Corbridge playing hits such as Slight Return and Cut Some Rug. The band scored thirteen Top 40 singles and three Top 10 albums in the UK charts.

Joining him (but not at the same time!) on the main stage is ex frontman of 2-Tone/Ska band The Specials, Neville Staple who will perform some of his own material with his band, as well as classics from The Specials.

Other artists include Sunderland Indie rock band Frankie & The Heartstrings, who have released a number of albums, including hit single Hunger.

The organisers are delighted to welcome Britain’s answer to the Beastie Boys, Too many T’s, and making a welcome return to Corbridge are  local bluegrass/rock and roll band Bessie & the Zinc Buckets with many more acts still to be announced, including another big name.

The compact nature of the venue ensures that everything is close; no long walks between stages and parking near to the campsite, which itself is on the same site as the music arena.  Parking is free and 2 nights camping is available.
