NICK J.D. HODGSON ANNOUNCES UK & IRELAND TOUR Listen to the album here - Spotify / iTunes / Buy ‘A slew of fast and furious hit singles in the making’ – Sunday Express ‘Subtle, sophisticated songwriting’ – Evening Standard ‘A self-performed album of lushly simple songs that are hummable and uplifting’ – Mail on Sunday  “Oh My God I can’t believe it, I’m going on tour” - NICK This was never the plan when Nick left Kaiser Chiefs in 2012. The plan was to stay at home writing and producing for other people. After five years of  writing songs with everyone from Shirley Bassey to Rat Boy via Mark Ronson and John Newman, the plan changed. His solo album Tell Your Friends came out on 26th Jan 2018 to great acclaim: album of the week in the Sunday Express, 4* in the Evening Standard and Dork Magazine (‘Hodgson’s innate genius shines brighter than ever before’), whilst The Sunday Times revelled in ‘this lovely album’s artless, low-fi approach’ and Q Magazine not

The Wave Pictures Announce new album Brushes With Happiness Due out on Moshi Moshi on 22 June 2018 Listen to new track "Jim" here (feel free to share!) June Tour Dates Announced Photo credit: Michael Rozycki “The blues is very important to us. One of the questions we ask ourselves is: how do you play the blues without actually playing a blues? The blues is all about mystery, mystery as a fact of everyday life. What people call mundane is really magical, they are just blind to it.” – Dave Tattersall One of the UK’s most prolific and beloved bands, The Wave Pictures, return with the brand new single, simply entitled “Jim” (premiered by Brooklyn Vegan here) which heralds the first of two albums that they will be releasing in 2018, Brushes With Happiness out on 22 June (which will be followed by Look Inside Your Heart in October). Review: Gary Numan at Middlesbrough Empire A big crowd braved the chill of the Minibeast From The East, (some had to stay in hotels in the area after the gig, it got so bad out there). But it was warm as toast in the packed (what is the fire limit?) Middlesbrough Empire where Numan fans from far and wide had gathered to witness the latest outing of a man whose musical career has spanned four decades. Trio, Nightmare Air from the US opened the night with their guitar/electro sound that had some similarities to the Sugar Cubes and a bit of Teenage Fanclub. The songs were catchy and at times had a darkness befitting the evening.  Gary came on with much dry ice and light beams singing Ghost Nation from the new album  Savage: Songs From a Broken World . The night featured a good few of the songs from this excellent new album. My personal favourite is My Name Is Ruin , which has Numan’s daughter’s vocals giving it an ethereal feel over the industrial rhythm. Indeed it is noticea

BARRENCE WHITFIELD AND THE SAVAGES ANNOUNCE UK TOUR DATES  FOR MAY TICKETS FOR NEWCASTLE CLUNY (from our affiliate See Tickets  at no extra cost) From a far out moon beyond the rings of Saturn to a dingy studio in Cincinnati, BARRENCE WHITFIELD AND THE SAVAGES' new platter embraces a cosmic and groovy unification. It’s a wild, electric phantasmagoria of blues, rock, garage, and soul; it blasts off into diverse orbits only to come back together into a singular Savage cosmology. Soul Flowers of Titan is about people shooting guns, separating, coming home (someday), falling in love, running around, leaving this earth, going crazy, drinking coffee, and thinking about Sun Ra. Titan is the largest moon of Saturn, a planet which astrologically symbolizes pain and struggle. Cincinnati, where the album was recorded (at Ultra Suede Studio), is home to many classic and unknown independent labels, like King and Federal, that fostered a frayed and raucous sound in the 195

TH E V E NGA BU S IS COM IN G THE first of three star-studded, paid-for concerts taking place over the Pride weekend has been announced, providing a huge boost to the LGBT festival. Event organisers, Geordiemoor, have bought the use of the big top tent after Newcastle Pride has wrapped up each evening, to provide music fans with a series of gigs featuring fantastic, big name acts. And Dutch Eurodance group, The Vengaboys - famous for their hit singles, We Like to Party, Boom Boom Boom Boom and We’re Going to Ibiza - are the first act lined up for the Friday evening concert. They will be joined by a yet-to-be-named superstar group and the event will act as the launch party for the free Newcastle Pride festival, which takes place between the 20 – 22 July. The three events will not disrupt the Newcastle Pride programme - which is running independent of the concerts organised by Geordiemoor - and a percentage of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to LGBT char
