The Nashville-based sister duo comprising Rebecca and Megan Lovell have also today been confirmed for next June’s Black Deer Festival.

Larkin Poe recently premiered the video for their “raw, powerful, ragged” (CLASH) version of Skip James’ blues classic ‘Hard Time Killing Floor Blues’ - watch here – one of two covers on ‘Venom & Faith’, the other being 'Sometimes' by blues legend Bessie Jones. The rest of the album’s tracks are Larkin Poe originals, including the blistering lead single 'Bleach Blonde Bottle Blues'

The follow-up to their critically acclaimed second album ‘Peach’, which was nominated for a Blues Music Award for Best Emerging Artist Album, ‘Venom & Faith’ was produced by the band and engineered by their long-time collaborator Roger Alan Nichols. Recorded in Nashville earlier this year in between headline shows, festival dates such as Bonnaroo and Lollapalooza, and a featured guest performer spot on Keith Urban’s Graffiti U World Tour, Larkin Poe approached ‘Venom & Faith’ with fierce independence. From Rebecca’s powerful vocals on “Ain’t Gonna Cry” to Megan’s sultry lap steel on “Good And Gone,” the sisters weave their talents into the fabric of their experience and a picture of the American South. “Blue Ridge Mountains” harkens to the sisters’ hometown Atlanta, “drinking sweet tea every day” with stomping percussion and churning riffs. ‘Venom & Faith’ redefines what it means to make emotionally resonant music while also maintaining boundary-pushing musicality.

UK HEADLINE TOUR FEBRUARY / MARCH 2019

“Like Strummer, Bragg and Duckworth before him, Sean McGowan possesses a world-weary spirit and an ability to translate that resignation into wryly observed studies of the human condition… A unique talent.”
- LOUDER THAN WAR, 8/10
The ever-grafting son of the smith, SEAN McGOWAN, is barrelling into 2019 via his favourite place: the road.

With 2018 an indelible highlight and highpoint of his decade of crafting songs, Seán is stepping up his already considerable efforts to bring his smart wordplay and clash of sad and riotous tunes to everyone he can muster.

Following his biggest headline show to date, a Christmas homecoming in Southampton at the 1865 supported by friend and labelmate Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly, Seán now looks to an extensive UK tour to kick off the new year.

Following the release of his debut album Son of the Smith in May 2018 - available on vinyl, CD and download from Xtra Mile Recordings now - Seán has had opportunity after opportunity to show all sorts of crowds what he’s made of. His biggest show saw him performing main stage at the legendary Camden Roundhouse as one of the main supports at Frank Turner’s Lost Evenings II. He toured with more friends and Xtra Mile family Skinny Lister, Get Cape. Wear Cape. Fly. and Will Varley, as well as fellow working-class hero Billy Bragg. He skirted the fringes of the island with a set of dates in lesser-played Scottish towns. And he ended a year of touring with a UK and European jaunt with eternal folk travellers The Levellers, in somewhat of a dream support slot.

Now, as always, he’s thinking big and now’s the time to see Seán get his band in on the act for this full UK tour in February and March 2019, with 21 stops and hardly a day off in between.

Support TBA.

David Gray back on tour with new music!

DAVID GRAY
SEVENTEEN DATE UK AND IRELAND TOUR

INC. LONDON'S ROYAL FESTIVAL HALL - SUN 17TH MARCH

NEW ALBUM "GOLD IN A BRASS AGE" OUT 8TH MARCH

DAVID GRAY has confirmed release details for a new album Gold In A Brass Age - his first album of new material in four years - alongside a seventeen-date tour of the UK for 2019.

The album will be available on March 8 through IHT Records / AWAL Recordings, with first single ‘The Sapling’ out now. Produced by Ben DeVries, son of producer and soundtrack composer Marius, Gold In A Brass Age finds Gray in renewed creative form. The album arrives just ahead of a run of headline shows, commencing at Cardiff’s St David’s Hall on Friday, 15th March and including London’s Royal Festival Hall on Sunday, 17th March before culminating with two nights at Dublin’s Bord Gais Theatre on Saturday 5th and Sunday 6th April. Stream ‘The Sapling’ here.

Gold In A Brass Age is defined by an intuitive approach from Gray, exploring new electronic textures and sound palettes, along with new production techniques in the process. Using a cut and paste approach to the arrangement of songs, the album’s atmospheric and experimental undertones are evident throughout. The album’s title is drawn from Raymond Carver’s short story Blackbird Pie, and informed by the regenerative cut and thrust of Gray’s adopted home of London and a fascination with the natural world which has long since consumed his time outside of music. The album’s striking artwork - for which Gray sought out Peckham-based tattoo artist London Boy - depicts an Emperor moth with the City of London captured between its wingspan.

Speaking about the creation of Gold In A Brass Age, Gray says; “With this album, my default position was to do everything differently. I didn’t think ‘this would be a good hook or ‘these lyrics could work for a chorus’. I was keen to get away from narrative. Instead of writing melodies, I looked for phrases with a natural cadence, so that the rhythm began with the words. I reimagined where a song might spring from and what form it could take.”

Written in breaks between several month-long tour stints - which included a US co-headline run of shows with Alison Krauss - Gold In A Brass Age sees Gray’s unmistakable vocal hushed in many places to an intimate falsetto, to compelling effect. Hypnotic lead single & album-opener ‘The Sapling’ bears out the nuanced approach in spades, with Gray’s rumination on the brevity of life tempered by layered vocals and a brass section including cor anglais and baritone sax. “Time ticking by is a theme that recurs throughout the record’ says Gray. “Fragility, renewal, a changing of perspective.”

Gold In A Brass Age will be David Gray’s eleventh album in a career that spans over 25 years, several Brit and Grammy nominations, and three No.1 UK albums, including for the breakout multi-platinum White Ladder. It is also a vital new collection of songs from an artist still revelling in his passion for song-craft, pushing himself into unfamiliar terrain, surprising himself as much as his fans along the way.

Luke, who recently relocated from Bristol to LA, says “I’ve been living in Los Angeles for two weeks so far and I’m already feeling worryingly upbeat. So I’m very excited to be coming home for this tour and launching this new album the right way. It could be my last visit for a while so I plan to make it a memorable one.”

Fittingly, Luke’s new single is called 'Los Angeles', and it’s a song as warm and hazy as an LA morning. Writing it helped in his decision to move to the city with his wife, illustrator Hannah Cousins. “Hannah’s wanted to move to LA for years but I’m not much of an adventurer, I’m a worrier and a pessimist,” he says. “But I do need something new. And writing the song crystallized my enthusiasm for moving there. It’s probably the most honest and open song on the album.”

The song’s video contrasts Los Angeles and Weston-super-Mare, and was directed Chris ‘MUG5’ Maguire. "I had a choice to keep Weston-super-Mare as my local beach or change it to Malibu, California,” says Luke. “Tricky one…! They could have flown me to LA for the video shoot, but I’m not Duran Duran. So I got the train to Weston and filmed my bits there.”

‘Los Angeles’ is the third single from ‘A Golden State’, following the 2018 singles ‘The Last Day’ and ‘Love Is Hard Enough Without The Winter’. Fans who pre-order the album will get all three singles as instant grats.

‘A Golden State’ was produced by Tommy McLaughlin (Villagers, Soak), who also produced Luke’s last album, 2017’s ‘Time Is A Riddle’, and recorded in Portland’s Jackpot Studios, famously set up by Elliott Smith, where alumni include R.E.M., Stephen Malkmus, and The Decemberists.

The cover artwork, a four-colour lino cut of the Venice Beach canals created by Hannah, is taken from her upcoming art book, ‘Coastline’ (pre-order at www.hannahcousins.com), which chronicles a two-week road trip the couple took down California's iconic Pacific Coast Highway between San Francisco and LA.

Luke Sital-Singh released his debut single ‘Fail For You’ in 2012, introducing the world his deft ability to craft songs with a mesmerizing, piercing emotional quality. The song went on to be featured in numerous TV shows including ‘Grey’s Anatomy’. At the end of 2013, Sital-Singh was featured in the BBC's Sound of 2014 list and released his debut record ‘The Fire Inside’ later that year.

After a couple of years touring the world and opening for artist such as Villagers, The Staves, Martha Wainwright and Angus and Julia Stone, in 2017 Sital-Singh released his critically-acclaimed sophomore record ‘Time Is A Riddle’. The album’s lead single ‘Killing Me’ has had 10m plays on Spotify, and Luke’s combined streams since 2015 are at almost 120m.

Julie Grant: New single, Marry Yourself

Nova Radio's Artist of 2018
has a new band and a new single.

The  single Marry Yourself celebrates being single, dispelling the myth that everyone must find a partner to be complete. It's not anti-marriage, it's just saying you don't need to become a wife or husband in order to be accepted in to society. Women especially think this is a must and it's not. It's sending out a very positive message to everyone, whatever their gender. The song is not autobiographical unlike the B-side : Hang For It.

The single is due for release in early March. The video will feature: a woodpecker, confetti, a Barbie doll and a bicycle... stoic/nonchalant male band and a jolly female singer. Julie is also celebrating being an older single woman, not dependent on the exposure of flesh to elicit a response.

Julie is writing a play based on Green and Purple, a song about domestic violence where the perpetrator is the mother. This is autobiographical and promises to be a hard-hitting yet sensitive piece of drama.
The band will be playing a live date at Newcastle's Little Buildings on March 10th to celebrate the release of Marry Yourself.

GRETCHEN PETERS

WITH HER BAND & THE SOUTHERN FRIED STRING QUARTET

STRINGS ATTACHED

APRIL 2019 UK TOUR

GRETCHEN PETERS returns to the UK for a unique, one off tour in April. Reprising her headlining set at Celtic Connections Festival in Glasgow, Gretchen will be joined by her regular band, led by long-time musical partner and pianist, Barry Walsh and The Southern Fried String Quartet. The tour is appropriately named Strings Attached.

Gretchen’s star has been in great ascendency recently. Following her two American Music Association Awards for 2015’s Blackbirds, including Best International Album, the 2018 release, Dancing With the Beast, marked another career high. Blending shades of country-rock, indie-folk and Southern gothic with Peters’s smokily honeyed voice, it features all-female characters, from pre-teen to elderly, whose stories vividly illuminate both the personal and political.

The all theatre tour will feature selections from both Blackbirds and Dancing With The Beast performed with strings, as well as a selection of her greatest hits taken from her 12 album career.

Peters has written songs for many artists including Neil Diamond and Shania Twain. She co wrote and performed with Bryan Adams on the hit When You Love Someone.

Gretchen says “We are immensely looking forward to the tour. It will be a lot of fun performing with strings in these iconic venues”.

“Astonishingly good writing. . . Peters is at the very top of her game” - PopMatters “A beautifully defined and utterly compelling album.. Peters’ ability to give voice to

believable characters is unbeatable.” – Daily Mirror

“Dancing With The Beast is a strong reminder of the talents of a singer-songwriter who remains one of the brightest stars in country music.” 4 stars – RnR Magazine
