Will Varley UK Tour

Will Varley Announces
UK Tour This Autumn

WILL VARLEY is very pleased to announce he will be touring the UK again this autumn, with the majority of the shows taking place in seated theatres and venues.

Varley celebrated the release of his 5th studio album, "Spirit of Minnie", with a packed out show at Shepherd’s Bush Empire in February. He then spent the first part of this year playing his new album live around the world, touring extensively in the US, appearing at SXSW festival in Texas and selling out venues across the UK, Germany, The Netherlands, Switzerland and Italy.

Culminating at London’s stunning Round Chapel in Hackney, this brand new tour will come after a busy summer of shows including appearances at Bearded Theory, BoomTown Fair, Green Man and the wonderful Cropredy Festival (at the request of members of Fairport Convention themselves).

Described recently by Donovan as “The next generation” and counting the likes of Billy Bragg, Tim Minchin and Frank Turner amongst his fans, it seems the rambling songwriter who cut his teeth haunting the open mics of south London is finally getting the attention he deserves. Don’t miss him across the UK this autumn.

Recent press quotes:

“His strongest work to date...evoking the likes of Bright Eyes, Springsteen and Dylan effortlessly.” Clash

“While he may have produced his darkest album to date... it’s also arguably his strongest” Folk Radio UK

“At his lyrical best” The Times

RED FACES on tour stopping off at HIT THE NORTH FESTIVAL

have announced a new set of spring live dates

The Sheffield 4-piece will play a special instore for this year’s Record Store Day at Vinyl Junkee in their hometown, as well as several festival appearances including Liverpool’s Sound City and Newcastle’s Hit The North (full list of dates below).

The band recently released a new single Messed Up Feeling. Recorded at Miloco’s The Pool in London and produced by Carey Willetts (Athlete), it’s a driving, monster of a song, with nods to their RnB influences – the groove landing somewhere between Kasabian and Michael Jackson, bass guitar and drums pushed right to the front of the mix.

Chosen by NME as one of their essential picks for 2018, the year is already shaping up to be a busy one for the band. Previous single Take It Or Leave It was chosen as BBC Radio 1’s ‘Introducing Track Of The Week’ and MTV marked them out as a ‘One To Watch’.

RedFaces are Harry Lyon, Isaac White, Charlie Yapp and Ryan Laycock. Four lads from Sheffield treading what was once a well-worn path, these days the road less travelled. The journey started at 2Fly studios in Sheffield, recording demos with Alan Smyth. Taking their influences from the 50s and 60s right through to today, by way of The Beatles, Hendrix, The Smiths and The Strokes.

Messed Up Feeling is out now.

The PLAYHOUSE Whitley Bay, in partnership with North Tyneside Council, is delighted to announce that Suzanne Vega will appear as part of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival 2018 on Sunday the 22nd of July.
Widely regarded as one of the most brilliant songwriters of her generation, Suzanne Vega emerged as a leading figure of the folk-music revival of the early 1980s when, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, she sang what has been labeled contemporary folk or neo-folk songs of her own creation in Greenwich Village clubs. Since Suzanne’s critically acclaimed debut album 32 years ago she has sold over 7 million albums and has been nominated for 7 Grammy awards. She tours constantly and continues to play sold-out concerts in many of the world's best-known halls and arenas.

We'd definitely like to be at this show.

Collabro At Whitley Bay Playhouse Friday 6th July 2018 7.30 pm TICKETS

At Whitley Bay Playhouse
Friday 6th July 2018
7.30 pm

Collabro are the world’s most successful Musical Theatre group. In 2014 they met for
their first rehearsal above a pub in London and just a month later went on to rouse the
whole of Hammersmith Apollo into a standing ovation during their first ever public
performance of ‘Stars’ for the Britain’s Got Talent judges.

Having triumphed in their Semi-Final heat with over 63% of the votes, they then won the
overall competition with one of the biggest majorities ever. This subsequently led to them
joining Simon Cowell’s label Syco, and hence becoming label-mates with the likes of
One Direction, Little Mix, Susan Boyle and Il Divo.

In the three years since the competition, Collabro have released a Number 1 debut album
“Stars”, followed by “Act Two” which peaked at Number 2 in the charts in the summer
of 2015. They have performed at the Royal Variety Performance; twice on Britain’s Got
Talent (most recently the 10-year Grand Final compilation of past contestants – having
been voted ‘The Nation’s Favourite BGT Winner’ in a national poll) and are now
enormously successful internationally. Notably, they have performed for over 30 million
people in Japan on Music Station on two separate occasions – receiving a Gold Disc for
Best International Artist alongside Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor. They have also
completed two tours of America and signed a major US record deal.

The boys have performed to 7 million people at Soccer Aid 2016 to critical praise and
garnered excellent press reviews for their first performance as a four-piece followed by a
performance at the 2016 BBC Proms in the Park. A Summer Tour supporting the
legendary Cliff Richard preceded their own sell-out 29 date Headline Tour of the UK at
the end of 2017. A series of concerts in Asia kicked 2018 off in fine style.

March 2017 saw the release of their highly anticipated third studio album -‘Home’- a
collection of stage classics, fan favourites and also their first original song ‘Lighthouse’,
reaching Number 7 in the UK Album Chart. This record is receiving exceptional critical
reviews and further affirms Collabro’s position as the most successful Musical Theatre
recording group in the world.

Guitar legend Paul Kossoff will be honoured by a former bandmate at the weekend.
Singer Terry Slesser takes to the stage in Kossoff: The Band Plays On at The Customs House on Saturday, April 28, at 7.45pm.

The frontman sang alongside Kossoff in Back Street Crawler and they were close friends.
He will be joined on stage by drummer Clive Edwards (UFO, Pat Travers, Wild Horses), highly-respected keyboard player Dave Chapman and bassist Rick Hunt.

John Buckton takes on the daunting task of replicating Kossoff’s unique guitar sound on tracks from Back Street Crawler’s back catalogue, as well as some hits from his previous band, Free, including the classic rock anthem All Right Now.

Slesser, from South Shields, is keen to keep the memory of Kossoff and his music alive.
He said: “I’m constantly being asked about Paul. The interest in him even after all this time is phenomenal. His totally distinctive style of playing influenced a generation of rock guitarists and every year there are articles and features about him in music magazines.
“Free’s All Right Now is one of the all-time great singles and still notches up literally millions of radio plays worldwide every year.”

Free formed in London in 1968 and scored a worldwide hit with All Right Now in 1970, reaching the No.1 spot in over 20 countries.

They disbanded five years later and Kossoff went on to form Back Steet Crawler in 1975, but their progress was overshadowed by his well-publicised drug abuse.
Kossoff died in 1976, aged 25, after suffering a pulmonary embolism on a flight from Los Angeles to New York.

The band continued for a few years under the name Crawler, with Slesser and Buckton reuniting for a short series of UK dates two years ago.
The response was so positive, with so much affection for "Koss" from both fans and fellow musicians alike, that they decided to continue with the project.

Kossoff is regarded as one of Britain’s finest blues guitarists and was ranked 51st in Rolling Stone magazine’s list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time.
His impact on fellow guitarists was immense, with Eric Clapton, Queen’s Brian May and Joe Bonamassa among his admirers.

Tickets for Kossoff: The Band Plays On are priced £17.50 and available from the box office on (0191) 454 1234 or online at

The Vamps Head to Bents Park #southshields this summer with support from The Cutkelvins

BRITISH boy band The Vamps will return to the North East this summer to headline the second of this year’s Sunday concert series shows.

The teen favourites – who appeared in Newcastle last week as part of their latest UK tour - will top the bill on Sunday 15 July as they are joined by last year’s X Factor semi-finalists, The Cutkelvins.

The Vamps – Brad Simpson, James McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans - got their first taste of fame in 2012 when they posted videos performing cover songs onto YouTube.

Instantly billed as the new One Direction, they signed with Mercury Records later that year and supported McFly on their Memory Lane Tour in early 2013.

After a summer hitting the festival scene up and down the country, they released their debut single Can We Dance in September, which peaked at number two in the UK Singles Chart, and further hits followed.

“We can’t wait to head to South Shields this July to perform at the Sunday concerts series,” said Brad Simpson. “We are currently on the road with our Night and Day arena tour, and after a busy time in the studio last year, we are all excited about playing the festival scene this summer.

“We have always had a fantastic time whenever we’ve played in the North East and we can’t wait to return for what’s certain to be an exciting afternoon in South Shields.”

The Vamps will be joined by X Factor finalists The Cutkelvins, a family three-piece band made up of brothers Jay and Kyle Cutkelvin and their sister Shereen, of Lanark, Scotland.

The musical siblings formed their own group last year and auditioned for X Factor, making it as far as the semi-final as one of Simon Cowell’s acts.

“It’s been madness for the 12 months for us, and we can’t wait to come to South Shields for the first time, especially getting to play on the same bill as The Vamps” said Jay.

Admission to all four concerts this summer is free of charge, but fans can choose to upgrade to a Priority Plus ticket.

Priced at £5 each, these will guarantee earlier access to the park to pick the best spot, along with access to a dedicated bar area and toilets. However, there will only be a limited number available, and they must be bought in advance.

Councillor Alan Kerr, Deputy Leader of South Tyneside Council with responsibility for Culture and Leisure, is looking forward to the event.

“I have seen The Vamps play live before they were just starting out and was very impressed, so now they are such big stars I am expecting a fantastic show,” he said.

“I also enjoyed watching the Cutkelvins on X Factor last year and was disappointed when they didn’t make the final, so it will be great to see them again. I think this is going to be a wonderful show which should appeal to all age groups.”

This year’s Sunday Concert series is supported by BBC Newcastle 95.4FM and sponsored by Port of Tyne and Colmans Seafood Temple.

Priority Plus tickets are available strictly on a first come, first served basis, and under- fives will be admitted free with a ticket-holding adult.

For tickets, visit Ticketmaster at or call: 0844 844 0444.

They can also be purchased in person at Shop @ The Word in Market Place, South Shields.

Pride Festival still has some VIP and Golden Circle Tickets up for grabs

FESTIVAL fans in the North East
still have time to secure the best views
for an array of musical stars this summer.

Newcastle Pride, sponsored by business improvement district NE1, is returning from 20 – 22 July with the new addition of a big top tent – and an even bigger musical line-up, with Alexandra Burke and S Club headlining over the weekend.

And there are a limited number of Golden Circle and VIP tickets remaining for those wanting to guarantee a prime viewing spot close to the stage at Nuns Moor.

As well as the best views of the Manchester Airport San Francisco Stage, Golden Circle ticket holders will have access to private toilets and the Gold Circle bar, to minimise queueing time.

Those purchasing VIP tickets will have access to the VIP area next to the stage, with a private bar and garden area, separate toilets and full access to the Golden Circle area in front of the stage.

“We’re always looking for ways to improve the Newcastle Pride experience and this year we have made the Golden Circle and VIP areas bigger and better than ever before,” said Stephen Willis, festival director.

“Newcastle Pride is a free festival but, as in previous years, we have a selection of ticket upgrades available for those who want to be close to the stage and reduce queuing times for the bars and toilets.

“We’re really grateful to everyone who buys a Golden Circle or VIP ticket because not only do they get festival perks, but the proceeds from ticket sales go towards funding Newcastle Pride and keeping it free at the point of entry.”

Joining Alexandra Burke and S Club on the main stage across the weekend is west-end leading man Gareth Gates, X Factor duo Jack and Joel and The Voice favourite Jordan Gray, with more acts still to be announced.

Golden Circle tickets are priced at £21.39 for each day or £26.49 for the weekend, with VIP tickets costing £39.75 for each day or £49.95 for the weekend. Tickets can be purchased from

The Bonnevilles hit @TheCluny on tour

THE BONNEVILLES have announced a series of UK & Ireland shows for this spring.

The Bonnevilles are shaking Northern Ireland in a way it hasn't felt since Van Morrison & Them obliterated Club Rado in 1964 and Stiff Little Fingers blew apart The Trident in 1977! The Bonnevilles don't so much play punk blues as use it as a springboard to create a completely new genre. And now they release their 4th studio album Dirty Photographs with LA based Alive Natural Sound Records.

The Lurgan duo take Mississippi Hill Blues and Punk Rock and mix their own unique dark Northern Irish Punk Blues stew which drew the attention of the fore mentioned Alive Natural Sound which saw them release the award nominated “Arrow Pierce My Heart” on the label in 2016.

The Bonnevilles formed in 2009 and quickly released their debut, and now, legendary album Good Suits & Fightin’ Boots on Motor Sounds Records.  McGibbon being a blues fan was moved to create The Bonnevilles after a brief time in another duo and being heavily inspired by RL Burnsides “ A Ass Pocket Of Whiskey” and bands like The Soledad Brothers, The Immortal Lee County Killers along with blues heavyweights like Howlin’ Wolf, Robert Johnson, Chess Records etc combined with McMullans heavy metal drumming style the band has become Europe's top alternative blues act.

Playing the Deep Blues festival in Clarkesdale Mississippi and the legendary Junior's Juke Joint in Holly Springs in 2015 cemented the bands reputation as the real deal. Now the bands new album Dirty Photographs sees the band reach new creative fields, the same dark blues punk stew with added sugar.

“THE HILLS ARE ALIVE WITH THE SOUND OF MADNESS!!” Britain’s favourite pop band Madness will be embarking on a major UK arena tour this December and will be joined by special guests The Fratellis live at the Metro Radio Arena Newcastle on Saturday 8th December 2018.

The Sound of Madness is a combination of people from North London that got together in the mid to late ‘70s and came up with a cacophony of music, noise, clothes, dressing up and having fun.

We caught Suggs on his spoken word tour at the Tyne Opera House earlier this year and his solo performance of some Madness tracks whetted our appetites for something much bigger, and here it comes!

The Feeling bring their Twelve Years and Home Tour to Tyne Theatre & Opera House

The Feeling bring their Twelve Years and
Home Tour to Tyne Theatre & Opera House

Following the success of their very special intimate performance at London’s Apollo
Theatre at the weekend (which sold out in under a minute), The Feeling have
announced that they will perform their celebrated million-selling album Twelve Stops
And Home in full across the UK this October, the band’s first tour for over two years.
The Feeling will be bringing the show to Tyne Theatre & Opera House on Friday 26th

The Feeling have also announced the reissue of Twelve Stops And Home, to celebrate 12 years since the acclaimed album’s release. Having been newly mastered from the original tapes, Twelve Stops And Home will be reissued as a Deluxe 3CD + DVD digibook, and a limited edition double yellow vinyl.

Twelve Stops And Home - named after the Piccadilly Line journey from Leicester Square to Gillespie Sells’ home stop of Bounds Green - was originally released on 5 June 2006. Despite being largely self-recorded in the garden shed of Ciaran and Kevin Jeremiah’s parents’ Sussex home, the album was a hit-the-ground-running masterpiece of fiercely infectious, life-affirming pop, pitched in the rainbow-coloured realm between Queen, the Scissor Sisters, ELO and Supertramp.

Five of the album’s big-hearted and velcro-catchy songs became bona fide hit singles (Sewn, Fill My Little World, Never Be Lonely, Rose and Love It When You Call), helping the band to become the most-played act on British radio in 2006, and earning them the Ivor Novello Award for Songwriters of the Year.
Dan Gillespie Sells said: “I’m so excited to be playing with the band again. To be performing an album that has always meant so much to me is going to be quite an experience! What a party it’s going to be!”

The Feeling are:

Dan Gillespie Sells – vocals & guitar
Richard Jones – bass
Kevin Jeremiah – guitar
Ciaran Jeremiah – keyboards
Paul Stewart – drums
Tickets for The Feeling are priced at £35.50 & £25.50. VIP tickets are available at £85.50. VIP Meet and Greet tickets include a ticket for the event in the best seats, a unique opportunity to meet The Feeling before the venue opens, a photo taken with The Feeling by the VIP Manager, a pre-signed photo of the band and a custom VIP laminate and lanyard.

Not just content with commanding the stage, the band are now gaining fans in Radio 1’s Huw Stephens, Annie Mac and  BBC 6 Music. Not forgetting of course blistering sets across Europe’s tastemaker festivals like Hamburg’s Reeperbahn Festival, UK’s The Great Escape and headlining the BBC Introducing Stage at Reading and Leeds Festival last year.

In keeping to their DIY approach to making music, ‘Feels Like Air’ was written and produced entirely by the band and includes all new music. Drawing on influences from their shared love of artists like Fleetwood Mac, Kings of Leon, War On Drugs and Grizzly Bear, their debut offering, with its hook-filled anthemic choruses and inventive drumming, is a body of work two years in the making. This is a band that has spent time carefully honing their craft, so as  to capture the sound and energy of their live performances.

The album opens with the band’s most recent single, ‘Ride’. Led by emotive, 80s-influenced guitar riffs and the impassioned vocal stylings of enigmatic frontman Rollo Doherty, the track epitomises the nostalgic, yet refreshing sound that fans of the band have grown to love.

The eleven-track album progresses through a range of emotions, experimenting with the downtempo and cinematic on tracks such as, ‘We Can Go Anywhere’ and title track ‘Feels Like Air’, while ‘Horizon’ and ‘God Forgive’, with their dreamy vocals and infectious drum beats owe as much to early 90s-era shoe gaze as they do to the lo-fi, minimal sound preferred by producers such as Jamie XX and Kaytranada.

Previous single ‘The Day I Die’, add yets another layer to this impressive body of work, slowing down the tempo, but still retaining their signature, venue-filler sound. The self-assured, bluesy number touches once more on the anthemic and speaks about finding the power to escape the mundane.

After two EPs and hundreds of live dates, ‘Feels Like Air’ is ISLAND at their most impressive and accomplished - the confident sound of a young band in their stride, upping the game and creating something sonically and qualitatively different.
