Stockton’s KU are once again bringing one of the UK’s most exciting new live acts to the region with a show from indie-pop four-piece Shambolics on May 13th. The Alan McGee endorsed band are signed to his Creation23 label and have recently released their latest EP, Take It Or Leave It, while the single of the same name blends Britpop influences with 80s grooves into something to both sing and dance along to.


Having only formed in 2017, Shambolics’ debut single, Chasing A Disaster, went straight to number 2 in the UK Official Vinyl Chart and then just before lockdown the band played their biggest show to date, selling out St. Lukes in Glasgow. Then, taking advantage of the enforced break the band relocated to Glasgow and hooked up with producer Chris Marshall. Shambolics’ more recent work is grittier and more honest while maintaining the melodies and upbeat disposition they were already known for.

Describing themselves as dreamy rock and roll inspired by some of the best indie bands of the last thirty years, the band have been championed by the likes of Edith Bowman, BBC Scotland’s Vic Galloway and Radio X’s John Kennedy while also performing at Tramlines, Isle of Wight and Reading & Leeds festivals. The band also won a prestigious SAMA Award for Best Rock/Alternative Act in 2017. Hard-working, focused and fiercely ambitious it is likely this is still just the beginning of the Shambolics story and another example of KU Promotions ongoing ethos of bringing the best new music to the region.


Prince Regent Street’s KU is a mainstay of the town’s live music scene and has previously hosted indie-guitar legends such as Arctic Monkeys, The Enemy, We Are Scientists, Reverend and The Makers and The View as well as offering a vital platform for up-and-coming Tees Valley-based artists. Support on the night will be Durham rockers The Thieves and Hartlepool’s DAWKS.

It's just a crack in the screen...... Not my usual kind of blog post. The smartphone has become part of everyday life. For a business like mine it had opened up new avenues to spread the word about my clients as a PR. I found some of these shut suddenly when my phone hurtled to the kitchen floor.
