Gateshead Beer & Music Festival

-based at Gateshead Rugby club in Low fell, is now in it's 6th year and runs from Friday 1st to Sunday 3rd May 2015.

What initially started off as a small festival has quickly grown into one of the largest of its kind in the north of England and is now a must on the local festival calendar.

Andy Bourn said "We have a varied music programme over the 3 days of the festival! We always ensure the bill is an eclectic mix covering all genres of music to suit all tastes"

After a barnstorming debut last year, we are excited to announce that local boys and national Soul & Funk sensations Smoove & Turrell are back to headline the opening night of this year’s festival. In their short time together the boys have gathered national acclaim for their brand of music

Festival highlights include Kendal Calling, Glastonbury and 6Music’s homecoming gig for long time S&T supporter Craig Charles in Liverpool. Andy Bourn says "We are excited to have the boys headlining a show based in the area where they grew up".

When we asked Smoove about playing such a local gig he jokingly said "I would travel to the other end of the U.K to attend the Gateshead Beer festival, luckily for me it's on my doorstep"

Smoove & Turrell will be supported by Geoff Mull
, who was a contestant on last year’s X Factor.
Geoff did earn a seat and a place at a judge’s house after impressing Mel B, who is to be the mentor for the boys category this year, but unfortunately he lost it to the last contestant to sing. "I can't wait to play on that stage, a home crowd is always a great gig"
The fantastically talented Gilded Thieves are a Northumbrian roots band, delicately arranged around upbeat and engaging fiddle, mandolin & guitar. The guys are regulars on the festival scene "We are definitely excited to performing, we are looking forward to the crowd, atmosphere and ales" Catch them on Saturday 2nd May.
After a brilliant set at our festival in 2014, the North’s most glam sisters are back!
We will be Glamming it up on Saturday night, that’s right The Sleeze Sisters will be bring their brilliant Glam rock show back for a second year, these boys certainly dress to impress.
The Dust Town Dogs will be closing the festival on the Sunday with their high energy and anything goes style of music. The doggies fondly remember their Gateshead Debut in 2013 "The crowd were brilliant, I'm sure this year will be even better"
Over the course of the weekend we will feature live sets from The Stolen Stones, Blistered Molly, Stax Brothers, Claypath, The Maverick Rejects, Soul Street, Broken Levee, Reely Ceol, Ste Johnson, Northern Sky, Band of Beards and George Welch & Christine Jeans.

Tickets are available from
www.gatesheadbeerfestival.co.uk and are priced at £10 per day and £25 for a weekend pass (Ticket price includes a free festival programme and souvenir glass).
Saturday is now sold out, however Friday & Sunday tickets still available.
