CHART-TOPPER JOANNA FOREST TO PERFORM AT ROYALTY THEATRE Fans of classical and popular music alike are set to enjoy a fantastic night of entertainment from official number one soprano Joanna Forest, at the Royalty Theatre in Sunderland, on Tuesday October 3rd at 7.45pm. Joanna, who earlier this year knocked Alfie Boe from the top spot in the UK classical charts, and has performed to millions on the BBC, ITV, Sky and Classic FM, will perform at the Sunderland venue to promote her debut album, Stars Are Rising.  The album is the first ever debut by an independent artist to reach the top spot, and was applauded by the national press for its eclectic mix of dramatic arias, cinematic classics and crossover versions of popular gems such as Bowie's Life on Mars and Slade's How Does It Feel?. This is going to be a great gig, I was in rehearsals with Rubric recently and they blew me away with their musical skills, clever but very cool. Rubric is an original blues/jazz fusion band formed in the North of England in 2011. They describe themselves as a "musical democracy" consisting of Chris Binding on vocals and guitar, Andrew Bell on guitar, Rob Caroll on bass and Helen Whitford on drums. The entire band have had a hand in creating the songs on The Game. Influences from prog rock, metal, jazz, blues and classical all play a part in The Game. Born into a mining family in Fatfield, he lost his mum and dad when he was 8 and was brought up by his sister, He went down the pit at age 15 and supplemented his earnings by playing harmonica, playing domino tournaments and soon discovered his talent for stand-up.   With  a rise in popularity, then a decline as he failed to manage his own bookings and his fondness for drink threatened his career, Bobby wasn't the best at keeping himself in gainful employment. But  new manager and a new outlook gave him a comedy career revival in the 70's but again, drink and health problems hampered any sustained success.
