The North East film-making duo who brought you the low-brow Geordie comedy T he Stagg Do   are astounded by the recent success of their Kickstarter crowd sourcing campaign which smashed its 30-day target of £4,000 in less than 48 hours.    They now plan to build on the momentum of their success and are going for a “stretch” goal of £7000 which will help them pay for  more UK screenings as well as show the film in the US.    Their initial Kickstarter campaign was designed to pay the costs of BBFC accreditation which is a requirement for films to be screened theatrically in the UK or released on DVD.    “The whole thing has thrown me for a loop,” said American-born James DeMarco, co-writer and director of the film.  “I thought it would go down to the wire. Smiles all Round The sold-out Tyne Theatre was treated to a show with several acts providing laughs and entertainment for everyone young and old. Hosted by Theatre Royal panto stars Danny Adams and Clive Webb (whom I remember in Tiswas), the show included Nick Celino who, I found out was in the Britain's Got Talent competition, and is now signed to the American Silver Scream label. Not bad for a wee lad from Heaton, with massive hair and a large voice.  The "Frozen Sisters" and the choirs from St Cuthbert's Catholic Primary School and from St Aloysius Primary Federation, provided some Disney-themed music from that film, what's it called? Comedy came from Lee Ridley the "Lost Voice Guy", a man not afraid to laugh in the face of his physical difficulties with cerebral palsy and with the nerve to stand in front of a big crowd and use an iPad to make them laugh with observational comedy and  his synthesised voice.  The Twisting Ducks Theatre company...

More Giggles Per Pound At The Stand Every Month Seymour Mace Photo ©jowheretogo The Giggle Beats Comedy Quiz has moved to the popular Stand Comedy Club on High Bridge. This month, hosted by Seymour Mace in his inimitable unflappable style, the quiz had rounds for Comedy General Knowledge, Pictures of Comics in their youth, Theme Tunes, Seymour Mace's "Shit Expressions"  and Comedy News. Quizzees puzzling over those pictures while someone gets the beers in.  Seymour had a interesting relationship with the audience which included some industry experts such as   Simon Donald and Lost Voice Guy Lee Ridley. It was a very funny situation with Seymour having to deal with some controversial interjections ...this only made it funnier. The prizes ranged from merchandise from Baby Cow Productions (Hebburn's creators) to Seymour's "Sack of Shite", stuff he grabbed on the way out of the house.
