Greg Griffin comes to KU in Stockton in May as part of a rare UK tour in support of his latest solo album Automatic. The Proud Mary legend has played and recorded all over the world with some of the biggest names in the music industry, so this is something of a coup for the Stockton venue. Tickets are already selling fast, and this show is expected to sell out.
Singer-songwriter Greg first hooked up with fellow musician Paul Newsome in the late 90s and became the first band signed to Noel Gallagher's Sour Mash label with the Oasis man going on to produce their first album of unabashed blues rock, The Same Old Blues. Around the same time Greg started recording and touring extensively with artists including Neil Young, Paul Weller, Stereophonics, and The Black Crowes before moving to San Diego in 2013.
Greg’s most recent solo album, Automatic, released in October 2022, was recorded in Denver with longtime friends, producer Eric Ryan and Richard Stuverud of Pearl Jam and RNDM fame. Automatic is ten tracks of heartfelt rock and roll and ballads of lost love and friendship unsurprisingly drawing on classic rock but with a wry and honest folky feel.
Prince Regent Street’s KU is a mainstay of
the town’s live music scene and has previously hosted indie-guitar legends such
as Arctic Monkeys, The Enemy, We Are Scientists, Reverend and The Makers and The
View as well as offering a vital platform for up-and-coming Tees Valley-based
artists. Support on the night comes from singer-songwriter Tom Blackwell and local
alt-folk hero Frazer Lambert.
Age
restrictions: Ages 18+.
Tickets are priced at £12.00 plus booking fee
