  ALEX CAMERON @ NEWCASTLE UNIVERSITY STUDENTS UNION WEDNESDAY 13 APRIL 2022 W/ SEAN NICHOLAS SAVAGE   The Kids Are Solid Gold bring esteemed Australian singer-songwriter Alex Cameron to Newcastle in April with an intimate show at Newcastle University Students Union in support of the singer’s new album, Oxy Music, released in March. Cameron initially adopted the onstage persona of a failed musician and is still known for his often intensely brooding live shows. He is joined on the night by Canadian singer-songwriter Sean Nicholas Savage known for his varied musical styles and poetic lyrics who has been described as a madcap philosopher. Originally from Sydney, Alex Cameron released his debut album, Jumping The Shark, in 2013 and has since toured extensively including support tours with Mac Demarco, Unknown Mortal Orchestra and Angel Olsen amongst others.   SWIM SCHOOL @ NEWCASTLE HEAD OF STEAM THURSDAY 14 APRIL 2022   Newcastle’s Head of Steam venue is something of a rite of passage for up-and-coming independent acts and Swim School are the latest in a long line to crack the boards at the intimate venue on their way to much bigger things. The Scottish band are becoming well known for their energetic live shows in support of debut EP, Making Sense of it All, released to broad plaudits in August last year and this standalone headliner is the perfect chance to catch them before this year’s festival season begins. Formed in Edinburgh in 2018 after meeting at music college, Swim School dived headlong into the Scottish independent scene with their own blend of indie-pop influenced by the likes of The Cure, Pale Waves and Wolf Alice.
