Real Diamond comes to The Customs House
Real Diamond Set To Give A Polished Performance
American singer-songwriter Neil Diamond may
have retired from performing, but his star still shines bright, with a Broadway
musical in the works.
But if you want to see his songs performed on
stage before then – and a little closer to home – Real Diamond comes to The
Customs House on Sunday, October 13.
John Hylton is recognised as one of the top
Neil Diamond tribute acts in the UK and bears an uncanny likeness to the great
man. After 15 years of performing over 4,000 live shows in venues across
Europe, Real Diamond returned to the UK in 2005 and has built up a huge
following.
Though born in the UK, John was raised in Canada
while his father served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, so he consequently
finds Neil’s tones and inflections come with ease. John, whose favourite Neil
Diamond song is I Am I Said, said: “It’s natural and you can feel it. People
can expect lots of fun, a little laughter and a few tears in this show.”
Real Diamond features a live band and golden
oldies from the 1960s, including Cherry Cherry, Solitary Man and Cracklin’
Rosie, but there’s also a particular focus on songs from the 1980 feature film
The Jazz Singer.
Starring Neil Diamond and Laurence Olivier,
the film’s soundtrack boasts the likes of Love on the Rocks, Hello Again and
America.
Tickets:
Tickets for Real Diamond, priced from £23.50,
are available from the box office on (0191) 454 1234 or online at www.customshouse.co.uk. The show starts at 8pm.
