Tearing at the seams with a boundless, tempestuous and fiercely invigorating energy, ‘Care Less’ was produced by Dead Nature main-man and Spring King-pin: Tarek Musa, and proudly wears his seal of approval. Seeking out Musa to capture the raw energy of their electrifying live performances, the track marks a significantly bolder, brasher, and more daredevil side to the band that tips its hat to the fuzz-flecked rampages of  IDLES or Cage The Elephant, or the loose-cannon punk leanings of Parquet Courts.



Clocking in at a neat 2’30, ‘Care Less’ fires on all cylinders from the moment go; a white-hot blaze of buzz-saw guitars, motorik percussive hurtle and sneering gasoline-soaked lyrical apathy.



Speaking about the duality of message mirrored within ‘Care Less’, SHEAFS says: “Care Less was written with a double narrative. On the surface the lyrics condemn those applicable social pressures of ‘fitting in’, much like being back at school and aspiring to be one of the ‘cool kids’. The second narrative is a something of a self reflective one. Caring less about having a sound that is refined and embracing one that isn’t…. We see this track as a major stepping-stone in our song writing and will dictate where we go next.” 



A blink-and-you’ll-miss-it thrill, ‘Care Less’ was written with the same sense of urgency that is evident from the breakneck pace of the record.  ‘Care Less’ was quickly laid down in a matter of days at Whitewood Recording Studio, Liverpool, with additional mastering by Mike Cave (whom recently mixed and mastered Lewis Capaldi’s latest chart topping album).



‘Care Less’ immediately follows a Summer of frenetic activity for the quintet, that seen them release their sensational recent single ‘Popular Music’ (also produced by Tarek Musa), win over crammed halls at Dot2Dot in Nottingham, Manchester and Bristol, but also play to a big hometown crowd at Tramlines Festival in Sheffield. Sealing the deal on a summer of groundbreaking shows, SHEAFS were also crowned ‘UK Talent Winners’ at Mad Cool Festival in Madrid this year. 



The Mad Cool honour follows consistent support across major national radio station including BBC Radio 1 (Huw Stephens, Phil Taggart), BBC 6 Music (Steve Lamacq, Chris Hawkins & Tom Robinson), Radio X (John Kennedy, Gordon Smart), BBC Introducing (Dean Jackson & Christian Carlisle) & Virgin Radio (Edith Bowman); support that confirms all eyes are on this most promising of bands’ every move. 



Following a stint of high profile support slots with the likes of The Amazons, The Coral, and Idles, plus their recent tour with US rockers Greta Van Fleet which saw them win over audiences all over Europe and at packed-out room at London's Electric Ballroom, SHEAFS now look forward to a headline tour of their own. It's just a crack in the screen...... Not my usual kind of blog post. The smartphone has become part of everyday life. For a business like mine it had opened up new avenues to spread the word about my clients as a PR. I found some of these shut suddenly when my phone hurtled to the kitchen floor. I worried the phone may cost a fortune to fix, but got similar quotes from about 3 people and so when one of them called back promising a 48 hr turnaraound, and 6 months warranty, I thought, I could trust the friendly voice of "John" at the other end of the line. The UPS driver arrived within 10 minutes and my phone was in a padded envelope off to Elite Phones And Computers in Manchester. This was a mistake. The Stagg Do 5 years in the making, written by an American (James DeMarco) , about Geordies, starring Geordies, with Geordie music and with a premiere screened on Westgate Road at the O2 Academy, this was truly a local affair. The story, about a camping trip involving a groom, his best man and his mates takes a turn for the uncomfortable when the father-in-law to be joins the group. Staggy, played by Andrew Stagg is being chaperoned by his fiancee's (Charlotte, played by Therase Neve) father, "The Judge". Daddy-in-law to be, is played by Bill Fellows, a familiar face on many TV series and films. This scuppers the plans of best-man Pob, and pals Si (Simon Buglass) and Radgy (Craig Conway), who really wanted the trip to evolve into a "beer and titties" extravaganza. Live Review:  Gary Lucas at The Cluny, Newcastle Still buzzing from a standing ovation in Liverpool the night before, Gary opened the show with a cover: I Remember .The rich sound came from his “distressed” acoustic guitar which he claimed was older than him .  Gary filled in between songs with history and amazing anecdotes. He was an anglophile in New York.  He studied at Yale. He loved the Move. He reminisced about John peel breaking Beefheart in U.K.  He saw Beefheart in New York. Interviewed Don Van Vliet for student radio whilst majoring in English Literature. Beefheart was bigger in Europe and Australia rather than in the US, but he knew then he wanted to perform with them. The next song was on electric. Evening Bell was a finger-picking  master class. He’s kept the explosive, disjointed quality of the song as he was instructed to play it all those years ago.  He talked about working as record company advertising executive....
