Released by Epic Records in 1988, this game-changing release boasted totemic singles including “Cult of Personality”, “Open Letter (To A Landlord)”, “Funny Vibe”, “Middle Man” and “Glamour Boys” amongst its many riches. Produced by enlisted super-producer Ed Stasium (Ramones / Talking Heads), this seismic first effort was also notable for its guest appearances from none other than Chuck D, Flavour Flav and even one Mick Jagger (who also contributed to production on select tracks).

Released to a shower of rave reviews from the rock press including a mighty 4.5/5 in Kerrang! and global public adoration, ‘Vivid’ was an instant success, hitting the No.6 spot in the Billboard 200 Chart and earning certifiable Double Platinum status after it comfortably became one of the most popular albums of the year.

Decades later, the ‘Vivid’ legacy remains untarnished and intact, with the record even receiving prestigious inclusion in the 1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die book. With its seminal status unquestionable and its inspiring musical, political and social relevance more prescient than ever, in 2019, the original maestros behind this groundbreaking work will return to perform the album live and in full like never before.

Providing fittingly anarchic company on their upcoming  ‘Vivid’ performances, Living Colour will joined for the dates by one of the UK’s most unflinchingly exciting new rock talents Wayward Sons, plus explosive US blues-rocker Jared James Nichols. Catch this unholy trinity on tour at the following UK dates:

For more than thirty years Living Colour have created, recorded and performed their own brand of heavy rock that draws as much inspiration from yesteryear soul men and rock gods as they do from post-bop jazz and boulevard shaking hip-hop. Founded by guitarist Vernon Reid back when he was still a dreadlocked sideman with Ronald Shannon Jackson and other East Village noise ensembles, Living Colour includes vocalist Corey Glover, drummer Will Calhoun and bassist Doug Wimbish.
In 2017, Living Colour released their latest studio album, ‘Shade,’ on Megaforce Records, a record that stood as their first new record in some eight years.
Still performing with the original and complete line up, in 2019 Living Colour will return their iconic debut album ‘Vivid’ to the masses at what promise to be some of 2019 most thrilling live shows. Be there…

Today, Alexandra Stréliski—beloved by the Quebec public since the release of INSCAPE—maintains her stride by announcing new concert dates in Europe. Aside from the Coeur de Pirate dates she’s supporting in France and Switzerland, Stréliski just announced concerts in London and Bristol before heading down to The Great Escape. She will also stop in Utrecht and will take part in the Iceland Airwaves Festival afterwards. She’ll also present her full stage concert imagined by Cirque Le Roux in Paris at Café de la Danse on November 13th. All the dates are below.
Star neoclassical pianist Alexandra Stréliski is even more moving live than on record. Alexandra Stréliski transported her fans into her emotional world. A concert that soothed both our ears and our soul. - Cédric Bélanger, Journal de Québec
Alexandra also shared a live session for Le Nouveau Départ today, directed by Vincent René-Lortie. “The new beginning”. Everything is in the title, says Alexandra. It is the only piece that we recorded on the grand piano in the studio. To give it a sense of “grandeur.”
INSCAPE is a commercial and critical success since its release. It climbed on classical sales charts in over 20 countries and is now over 35 million streams in only a couple of months, already surpassing her previous album Pianoscope, which has over 20 million streams‘Plus tôt’, the first single from INSCAPE, is currently playing in the Center Parcs UK advertising campaign across the country. You can listen/watch it here.
Billboard called Stréliski one of the foremost new stars in modern classical and Noiseystated that her music is a contrast of depth and fragility that uncannily resembles the human condition itself. Alexandra’s music was also omnipresent in the HBO’s miniseries ‘Sharp Objects’ which aired last Summer, directed by Jean-Marc Vallée and starring Amy Adams.

Review: Julie Grant,

 Hassle, Paul Reed band and

The Duffles:

The Little Buildings 10/3/2019

Opening the night were The Duffles: a 4 piece, unashamedly north-eastern folk band with pleasingly jingly mandolin, harmonica, guitar and percussion. Definitely one to watch out for.
Hassle are a guitar duo blending blues with a pop sensibility, they kept the audience warm before the Paul Reed Band took over with their contemporary rock n roll. Violin and intricate finger picked guitar completed the sound.

The Duffles..Richard

Julie Grant is currently experiencing a resurgence in her musical career. After a long absence she is back with a new band who have taken her songs into a new dimension. Highlights were the new singles Marry Yourself, rescue dog anthem Excellent Animal, and  the positively punky Money Says. My personal favourite is Orange Brain, which, although written many years ago, is very resonant right now with disability assessments and questioning of people’s disabled status. A very receptive audience some of whom had travelled a long way, had a great night. Little Buildings is a grand tiny venue and we look forward to attending gigs in their new address.
