Julie Grant: New single, Marry Yourself
Nova Radio's Artist of 2018
has a new band and a new single.
The single Marry Yourself celebrates being single, dispelling the myth that everyone must find a partner to be complete. It's not anti-marriage, it's just saying you don't need to become a wife or husband in order to be accepted in to society. Women especially think this is a must and it's not. It's sending out a very positive message to everyone, whatever their gender. The song is not autobiographical unlike the B-side : Hang For It.
The single is due for release in early March. The video will feature: a woodpecker, confetti, a Barbie doll and a bicycle... stoic/nonchalant male band and a jolly female singer. Julie is also celebrating being an older single woman, not dependent on the exposure of flesh to elicit a response.
Julie is writing a play based on Green and Purple, a song about domestic violence where the perpetrator is the mother. This is autobiographical and promises to be a hard-hitting yet sensitive piece of drama.
The band will be playing a live date at Newcastle's Little Buildings on March 10th to celebrate the release of Marry Yourself.
