Julie Grant: New single, Marry Yourself

Image
Nova Radio's Artist of 2018  has a new band and a new single. The  single Marry Yourself celebrates being single, dispelling the myth that everyone must find a partner to be complete. It's not anti-marriage, it's just saying you don't need to become a wife or husband in order to be accepted in to society. Women especially think this is a must and it's not. It's sending out a very positive message to everyone, whatever their gender. The song is not autobiographical unlike the B-side : Hang For It . The single is due for release in early March. The video will feature: a woodpecker, confetti, a Barbie doll and a bicycle... stoic/nonchalant male band and a jolly female singer. Julie is also celebrating being an older single woman, not dependent on the exposure of flesh to elicit a response. Julie is writing a play based on Green and Purple , a song about domestic violence where the perpetrator is the mother. This is autobiographical and promises to b...

Following her two American Music Association Awards for 2015’s Blackbirds, including Best International Album, the 2018 release, Dancing With the Beast, marked another career high. Blending shades of country-rock, indie-folk and Southern gothic with Peters’s smokily honeyed voice, it features all-female characters, from pre-teen to elderly, whose stories vividly illuminate both the personal and political. The all theatre tour will feature selections from both Blackbirds and D...
