Richie Ramone plays special Newcastle show
on February 9th.
Former Ramones drummer Richie Ramone (nee Richard Reinhardt) is to play a show with his band at The Cluny on February 9th.
Richie was drummer with the Ramones between 1983 and 1987. He is the only Ramones drummer to be the sole composer and writer of Ramones songs.
He is also the only Ramones drummer to have ever taken lead vocals, tracks such as 'Can't Say Anything Nice'.
Other songs he's written include 'Smash You', 'Humankind', 'I'm not Jesus', 'I know Better Now', '(You) Can't Say Anything Nice' and of course 'Somebody Put Something in My Drink'.
Although Richie's band have played the UK a few times in recent years, this will actually be the first time in Newcastle. However, members of his band are no stranger to the region : Alex Kane, previously of Antiproduct, is involved - AP were a hardworking band who had a very good following in the North-East, they even held their first birthday party in South Shields!
This is almost a show of two halves, so we've got a true punk icon playing a full 90 minute set, the opening act is somewhat of a newcomer.
Klammer have been getting a lot of good feedback including touted as 'best newcomers' via BBC Introducing.
The band have a modern take on post-punk and dark-pop and are sure to win over fans.
Tickets are just £10 in advance (£13 on the door on the night) keeping the price down to make this open to as many fans as possible, a good chance to see a true legend in an intimate setting for an affordable price.
Advance tickets available from The Cluny or online on www.seetickets.com
